How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
The Cutera XEO+ laser emits a concentrated beam of light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) within the hair follicle. The heat damages the follicle, significantly reducing its ability to produce new hair while leaving the surrounding skin unharmed. As hair grows in cycles, multiple treatments are required to target hairs during their active growth phase.

Before Your Laser Hair Removal Treatment
To prepare for your appointment:
- Shave the treatment area 24 hours before your appointment.
- Do not wax, pluck, thread or use depilatory creams for at least 4 weeks before treatment.
- Avoid excessive sun exposure and tanning for at least 4 weeks.
- Avoid fake tan for at least 2 weeks before treatment.
- Wear SPF 30–50 daily on exposed treatment areas.
- Avoid retinol and exfoliating products on the treatment area for 5–7 days before treatment.
- Attend your consultation and patch test before beginning treatment.
After Your Laser Hair Removal Treatment
Following treatment: - Mild redness and slight swelling around the hair follicles are normal and usually settle within a few hours.
- Apply a soothing moisturiser or aloe vera gel if recommended.
- Avoid hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs and vigorous exercise for 24–48 hours.
- Avoid sun exposure and wear SPF 30–50 daily.
- Do not wax, pluck or thread between treatments. Shaving is permitted.
- Avoid exfoliating products, retinol and active skincare ingredients on the treated area for several days.
- Hair may gradually shed over the following 1–3 weeks. This is a normal part of the treatment process.
